We are close to a new significant milestone for our team: the assembly of our final prototypes, the last before producing a small series of Naos.
They mean a lot to us since they will be very close to the production versions, and will also be the first generation of fully autonomous Naos that can live their lives within the team.
Everything is in place for the next steps: our fundraising campaign is coming to a successful conclusion.
This is excellent news for Aldebaran Robotics.

In electronics, motors control cards have been completely rethought, they are smaller and have a more computing power. The eye cards now feature RGB LEDs, allowing any combination of colors, so that Nao can express his emotions.
Finally, the microphone system has been optimized and the ratio signal/noise, improved.
The software algorithms have been the subject of special care from the software development team, which keeps adding new features to the various sensors.
The camera, for example, is now able to get accurate information on the brightness (and thus detect if it is night or if an obstacle passes quickly into its vision field) and Nao supports more combined functions (For example, it can tell us information about things it recognizes: I see an A, I see a B …).
In mechanics, the new back design of the torso now features more space for the battery; the various colored parts are now removable, on the torso and elsewhere.
Nao is now registered on the MyFace.com website.
Some picture of its life environment will be regularly added and you may discover our office, team members and unusual scenes.

The forum is increasingly visited. We now count nearly 450 active members and more than 3000 messages posted… thanks to all of you on this achievement!
For our English speaker readers: we are fully aware that registering on the forum is problematic as the interface is in French…we actively work on this subject. By the way, if someone has an efficient solution, please share! (You can simply reply to newsletter email)
Among the hottest topics these past few weeks: accessories. There was a crowd of excellent ideas for a potential vehicle for Nao, and a very long discussion around the idea of a real/virtual game. It seems geared towards the possibility of acquiring new unpublished behaviors for Nao, by completing a series of tests in a virtual world.
We wanted also to thank you for your overwhelming participation in the survey of the previous newsletter on the goodies, which led to a request for figurines. We are currently studying their release.
Finally, I am proud to announce the birth of our first FanSite, Nao Forge, focusing on all aspects of programming Nao, which you can find here.
Nao is a complete multimedia companion. Playing music is one of its many applications.
We can offer you Nao with basic loudspeakers, chosen for speech synthesis and music, or high quality speakers, more suited to make the best of your audio files.
This obviously has an impact on the sale price of the robot. We invite you to give us your opinion in the forum here.
The new version of the website is about to be put online!
While the design remains constant, the site map and contents have changed and will keep changing in the future. The different sections have new illustrations and exclusive photography of Nao.
The website is organized around 4 main themes: Business, News, The World of Nao and a whole new member section, where you will find the Forum, the agenda of the company and Nao’s outings, as well as a goodies page and a club.
The last one will be activated as soon as the Aldebaran Robotics’ Club will be launched, which is still under construction.
